Makes Pit Stop In Santa Maria 

In the race to eradicate polio Deepa Willingham is the epitome of "Service Above Self," the motto of Rotary International.   Inspired to rid the world of poverty and polio, Willingham, a Solvang resident and governor of Rotary International's District 5240, said the end is in sight to conquering polio in her native India and elsewhere.   "We're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel," she said at Tuesday's Rotary Club of Santa Maria (noon) meeting at the Santa Maria Inn.  (Read more)

This year's major project for The Rotary Club of Lompoc is the renovation of the press booth at Huyck Stadium.  Located on the campus of Lompoc High School, Huyck Stadium is used for home games of both of Lompoc's High Schools.  It is also the venue of choice for Lompoc's Fourth of July celebration and fund raising events such as the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.  Renovations of this Lompoc landmark are intended to improve its appearance, accessibility and function.  (See more)
